MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – NON VESSEL & TANKS

McDowall Affleck also specialises in the design and engineering of earthmoving equipment.  In particular:

  • Access systems – including platforms, handrails, stairs and ladders all to AS3868 and AS1657.  Many clients find the process of fitting these types of systems extremely challenging particularly when it comes to meeting stringent Australian Standards requirements.  McDowall Affleck’s experience in this are is second to none, having provided solutions to the most difficult of engineering problems.

  • Special purpose attachments – including quick couplers and quick attach tools for wheel loaders and excavators, special purpose buckets such as ejector buckets and high dump buckets.  We can also calculate bucket volumes and advise on best practice for volume reductions and increases.

  • Specialised tool/attachment design - we can also design specialised tools or attachments to meet your requirements.  For example, hydraulic or electrically-operated spare tyre carriers for motor graders and rear rippers for wheel loaders.

  • Specialised machine design – McDowall Affleck has the expertise to design a complete special purpose machine from the ground up.  This includes chassis design, engine and hydraulic selection, drive systems selection, etc.

  • Reverse engineering – have you just built something and want to build another one just like it?  We can reverse engineer your machine by site measuring all equipment and providing you with complete fabrication drawings so you can build multiples of the same piece of equipment.

  • Machine guarding – we can design machine guarding for your workshop equipment to AS4024.  This provides safe, operator-friendly solutions to reduce work hazards, risks and injuries from machinery.

  • If you are too busy or don’t have the expertise, McDowall Affleck can take the stress away by managing your project as well, so that all you have to do is turn the key on your purpose built machine.
